This two year old is a little young for intensive lessons; however I accept students from 5 years of age, upwards!
Violin lessons with an experienced, qualified New Zealand teacher. Bachelor of Music Education, Diplomas of Teaching Secondary and Community from Auckland University and Auckland College of Education.
Performer in Four-té String Quartet and St Matthew's Chamber Orchestra. New Zealand background playing in the National Youth Orchestra, Auckland University Orchestra, Bach Musica, Opus and Auckland Symphony Orchestra.
I have taught Violin in fifteen schools around Auckland since I was a teenager and I have put students through ABRSM and Trinity College London, Violin Examinations with high rates of success.
A few of my past pupils have continued on to Performance studies at University.
PEDAGOGY: Predominantly I have a down to earth awareness of New Zealand students learning styles both Individually and in Groups and I have studied Paul Rolland-Sheila Nelson Violin method based on free, comfortable movements and introduction to rhythm and note reading combined with research and use of Suzuki elements.
TEACHERS: I learnt from David Nalden at Auckland University for nearly four years and also David Matthews from the Medici Quartet, (http://www.answers.com/topic/medici-quartet).
I also have studied with numerous New Zealand Musicians from New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.
I have a flexible and holistic view of Violin teaching, I am very receptive to student's individual differences and adjust my teaching style accordingly.
I have taught Violin at schools such as Otahuhu College, (Decile 1) and in contrast, Diocesan School for Girls Music Academy, (Decile 10).
I believe in making the student feel happy and welcome in a rewarding learning environment in order to improve and become their own type of violinist.
Based in Mt Albert.
